Vibratory Equipment

The term “vibratory equipment” refers to any equipment that furthers the agenda of the system within which it works by vibrating parts, particles or filtering materials. Vibratory equipment comes in a wide variety of styles, configurations and designs that cater to an equally wide variety of industries and applications. Among these industries are chemical injection, metallurgy, ores and minerals, pharmaceutical processing and packaging, recycling and wood pelleting. Within industries such as these, vibratory equipment like dryers, coolers, shakeouts and lump breakers and feeders, conveyors and screeners provide invaluable services.

As we noted in the first paragraph, vibratory equipment works to achieve a variety of different ends. One of the many types of services offered by some types of vibratory equipment is separation and filtration. In particular, this is applied to particles and filtering materials that must be separated from one another. In order to achieve this, vibratory equipment first uses vibrations that break down the surface tension of the particles. Then, the equipment works at an angle in order to separate the particles more using something known as the “popcorn effect,” which causes coarser particles to be lifted as finer particles stay closer to the equipment. Typically, vibratory equipment with these capabilities are used by manufacturers with applications related to minerals and metal ores, powdered chemicals and pharmaceuticals, powdered and crushed food processing and the sorting of other fine particulates. Another major goal of vibratory equipment is to convey while sorting and orienting. This is the main goal of vibratory feeders. Vibratory feeders, or vibrating feeders, consist of a vibrating drive and tracks. Often, these are additionally contained within a bowl. If this is the case, the equipment is known as a bowl feeder. Either way, vibratory feeders convey parts and materials along a path by vibrating them. Additionally, these vibrations shake them into place and properly sort them. This type of vibratory equipment is frequently used in applications related to automotive manufacturing, electronics, foundries, glass working and processing, packaging and assembly, mining, food and beverage, pulp and paper, plastics, recycling and railroads. Vibrating dryers and coolers work to dry and cool items, respectively, by using the energy-efficient method of vibration. Some of the materials with which they are compatible include: wood, scrap, recyclables, metal, coal, food, synthetic and even chemicals and explosives.

Vibratory equipment is valued over other types of sorting, separating and conveying equipment because it is highly efficient, accurate and affordable. Of all the machines out there, vibratory equipment provides perhaps the most value for the price. They offer lower error rates, higher efficiency rates, less need for manual labor, less power consumption and overall higher profits. Also, because they are rather simple, they require less maintenance. The various styles and iterations of vibratory equipment can be customized in order to fit the unique needs of individual customers. They can, for example, be customized based on material properties (such as fragility, susceptibility to corrosion, temperature sensitivity. hardness/tendency to mark other materials, etc.), product volume, load weight, desired material orientation and more; manufacturers are more than willing to produce equipment (including tracks) with custom lengths, widths and depths. Some of the many accessories that may be ordered with different types of vibratory equipment include: base plates, track coatings, foam-lined sound enclosures or sound covers, sensors and hoppers. Note that, while a piece of vibratory equipment will likely arrive preset with a frequency of vibration that best fits the original application and materials with which it will be working, vibration frequencies can be altered in order to serve an updated or changed application.

For the best results, we here at IQS recommend that you familiarize yourself with your specifications before taking them to a manufacturer. This is because, the better you know your application, the better a manufacturer will be able to serve you. Once you have gathered the information you need, reach out to an experienced vibratory equipment manufacturer who will listen to you and your needs and produce your equipment accordingly. Find the best of such manufacturers by going to the respective websites of those manufacturers with whom we partner and have listed near the top of this page. Once you have found one or more manufacturers that interest you, reach out to them with a phone call, an email or a request for a quote. Any one of these professionals will be more than happy to work with you in order to provide you with the very best value-adding solution for your application, so get started today!
