PVC Channels

2 sections

PVC channels are a commodity born out of industrial finishing, which contributes to the promotion of markets such as automotives, telecommunications, or point-of-purchase. PVC channels are created through plastic extrusion, a high-volume manufacturing process through which raw plastic is melted and formed into a continuous profile, making a new shape, tool, or product.

Applications of PVC Channels

Depending on their design, PVC channels have several applications in more than one industry.

General applications of PVC channels include:

  • Capping
  • Edging
  • Trim and Door Tracking in the Furniture
  • Shopfitting
  • Vivariums

For example, double track PVC channels for sliding door tracks are frequently stocked in T center leg and center leg designs. These are suitable for board, plywood and glass doors, and vivarium glass runners. PVC channels may also be used as capping channels. In this case, they may be J, C, or U section channels, ideal for standard thickness wallboard, plywood, and panel edging and trim, as well as shower, sink, and tub sealing. PVC channels are an incredibly versatile, low maintenance, durable, and affordable solution.

PVC Channel Design and Customization

PVC channels are usually made of rigid PVC, rather than flexible PVC or PVC Type 1. PVC Type 1 is the most commonly used type of PVC. These material choices offer several advantages. First, they help channels maintain a high tensile and compressive strength. Additionally, PVC is non-flammable, dimensionally stable, resistant to weathering, and relatively inexpensive. PVC channels may also be non-brittle, warp-proof, chemical and abrasion-resistant, and they may or may not be UV stabilized. Some models come with specially-designed ducts and covers for fast and efficient locking. Still others have slotting patterns to prevent wires moving out of place when its cover is removed. Many are designed with elongated slots at the bottom to allow for flexible mounting. Channels are offered in a range of lengths, base widths, wall thickness tolerances, length tolerances, minimum and maximum temperature ratings, and tensile strengths. To customize an order of PVC channels, the customer may request specialization or modification of color, length, or range. Additionally, most, if not all, manufacturers will honor requests to or will make it a practice to adhere to international standards of manufacturing and processing.
